I have a daughter who despite my best efforts, sometimes displays this "entitlement" mentality that you mentioned. Don't get me wrong, I love her to death but, sometimes the things that come out of her mouth or the ways that she chooses to think about certain situations (work, personal responsibility, etc..)makes me wonder who the heck is this kid? Certainly not the one I'm trying to raise right. It's a real struggle as a Gen-X parent of a Gen-Y kid to make sure that we do everything we can to keep from hoisting another entitled know-it-all onto the unsuspecting world.otifrankhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00191638698584099147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557431007189955943.post-90088701466250827412011-06-24T20:05:50.619-05:002011-06-24T20:05:50.619-05:00Love this. I'd recommend it to my 30 year-old BIL (who only recently moved out "on his own", which means that his 90 year-old grandma is paying him $1200/month to live in an apartment and go to school part-time so that Precious doesn't have to juggle school/work at the same time), but something tells me he wouldn't get it. Neither would his mom or grandma.FunnyMumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16491915168395103125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557431007189955943.post-31360084738775744652011-05-27T11:37:20.269-05:002011-05-27T11:37:20.269-05:00I COMPLETELY agree. I want to raise good people, ...I COMPLETELY agree. I want to raise good people, that other people want to hire, marry, that contribute to the world and make it a better place. You are RIGHT on track with all of this.Alli Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16411112102681655679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6557431007189955943.post-36661277118183564502011-05-27T11:01:54.908-05:002011-05-27T11:01:54.908-05:00Brilliant. They didn't have the work ethic at 22 that I I had at 16. And they found out for the first time that there are people who have expectations beyond showing up. Some found it difficult. Some thrived under the right supervisor who could teach them work ethic and inspire them to do their best. Others? Well, those people just failed. And I suspect they will fail at everything for their entire lives because they think all should be handed to them.Enyohttp://www.whattoexpect.com/blogs/motherhoodloomswheresmyyarn/noreply@blogger.com
